ANNIE LIU (THEY/THEM) is a Seattle-based lighting designer whose mission is to educate and empower young designers AND THEATRE ARTISTS.
Annie loves all things performing arts, and particularly enjoys anything that blurs the lines between theatre, dance, and performance art. They love to collaborate, approach new ideas with a curious and playful spirit, and push against the boundaries of traditional theatre using their favorite artistic medium: light.
Alongside that love for experimentation, Annie adores musical theatre, as well as working with young designers and technicians. They feel a great sense of pride and fulfillment when mentoring young artists and helping prepare them for their futures, and are actively seeking education opportunities.
Annie holds a BFA in Theatre Design & Technology from Santa Fe University of Art and Design and an MFA in Arts Leadership from Seattle University. Their work has been presented at theaters in New York, Seattle, Houston, and Santa Fe. Annie is grateful to live and work on the unceded lands of the Duwamish, Muckleshoot, and Coast Salish peoples.
